"You're both idiots," Bel said in disgust. "Demons don't have honor. Crowley's already broken the terms of the contract. The only place it exists is in her head -- and yours, too, apparently, since you're on the 'accept the consquences' train. You think you can deal with a demon with honor? Think again, little girl. But if you want to play games with the big bad demon, be my guest. Just don't be surprised when you get burned.

"This is fucking ridiculous," Bel said, and stormed out of the room.

"Wonder why that is?" Anders mused absently, still looking the broom over and boggling over its perfectly normal appearance. "I remember she had special powers, or something. Think it had anything to do with that?"

"And again," Kiki murmured out loud as the door shut behind him, "the spoiled child throws a temper tantrum. There goes demon without honor or humanity, exhibit A."

She shook her head, feeling sorrier for Phoebe than ever, and took up her spellbook again.

Kiki shrugged. "Maybe," she said thoughtfully. "The problem is, flying is so natural to me that I have a tough time trying to explain just how I do it. I guess it's a matter of will, but in addition you really have to find the joy in it. The delight of soaring is really what will take you up."

"I think I get that," he says. "My Pyramid coach in high school used to tell us that we had to want to win. But I always thought, y'know, if you don't love playing the game, then wanting to win by itself isn't gonna do you any good."

Kiki grins. "You know, that is a really good analogy! I never thought of it that way. Probably because I've never actually really played any sports of competitive games like that."

"And I've never flown a broom, so I guess we're even there," Anders replies with a grin. "Though now that I think about it, I don't think flying's my thing. Might be happier on the ground."

"I don't think about it much, but it does kind of require a level of..." Kiki hunts for the word. "Insanity? To go cavorting around on a broom without a safety net or a seat belt or anything like that. There are advantages to walking!"

"There's no seat belt?" Anders stares for a moment. "Oh, wait, duh. 'course there isn't."

He runs a hand through his hair and chuckles. "Except for the part where it's a lot slower, yeah."
