Steeling herself for what was coming up, Parker entered the Assistants' Lounge, and took a seat across from Bel.

"Got a minute?" she asked abruptly.

She tapped her fingers on the armrest, studying him intently. "I talked to Piper last night. About the Dragon Blade, and you switching sides. Wanting a chance at... what, exactly?" Her voice wasn't hostile, but it wasn't exactly friendly, either.

"I had to make a choice," he said quietly. "Either Angelus or Phoebe...or Angelus or everyone else in the school. So I chose to stop trying to bring back Angelus." He didn't flinch from Parker's gaze. "I don't expect anyone to treat me any different. Angel said he'd help me, but everyone else has their own decision to make."

Parker nodded carefully. "Angel and I have talked about your-- situation, before. With the Source. So I think I understand some of your motivations." She drummed her fingers again. "As annoyed as I am about your previous attempts at de-souling, and as much as I'd like to bitch-slap you for scaring the life out of Veronica, I'm willing to let that go. For now. If you're sincere." She let out a careful breath. "But I'd also like to take precautions. Suggestions on how to stop you would be a good start."

"Marty shooting me up with tranquilizer darts seemed to work pretty well, and Angel's stronger than me," Bel said. There may have been a trace of bitterness in his voice. Or jealousy. He paused, taking a deep breath. "Umm...there's a vanquish potion for me in the Book of Shadows."

"Those first two are dicey. The third-- is more reassuring." Parker nodded and relaxed a tiny increment more. "Of course, the fact that Phoebe is one of the keepers of that book does lead me to wonder if it would ever get used, even if we needed it."

Faithful wandered in, in search of snacks and new ways to annoy Alanna. He stopped next to Parker's chair, then leaped up to the armrest, tail twitching. "Got any of that nice shrimp in your room?"

"Some. Grab me after fifth, and I'll set some out for you." Parker stroked him from his head to the base of his spine, then cocked her head at Belthazor. "So. What's your take on this guy?"

"Phoebe may let her heart cloud her judgment, but Piper won't," Bel said evenly. "The book stays with her for a reason."

Faithful leaned into Parker's fingers, then put twitched his whiskers forward, sounding amused. "What did you want to know? Whether he was going to win the Lotto, or kill you in your bed?"

"The latter. Smartass." Parker scritched behind his ears. "Is he at least being sincere about this attempt to go straight? Or is it a ploy?"

Since she'd actually cried herslef to sleep last night, Paige slept in last and wandered into the lounge hoping it would be empty.

Then of course she saw Phoebe and Cole looking very happy and turned to leave, "oh sorry, I was hoping maybe it'd be empty"

And yes those are tears, and he's not even left yet.

"Paige?" Phoebe drops her notes and goes to her sister, putting and arm around her and bringing her to the couch.

She bites her lip and looks at her sister, "it's fine, it's nothing, it's just...he's leaving" she says, vaguely aware how very stupid it is for her to this upset about it.

"Geoff." She hugged her sister to her, petting her hair. "I kow how much harder on you it is than on people like Kiki and I," she says softly. "To us, he's a friend and family, so it hurts deeply. To you, he was your first love and the loss of that..." she looks over Paige's head at Cole. "...that cuts deeper than anything else ever can."

She swallowed hard and nodded slowly, hugging Phoebe back. "He's going on Thursday and he think's I'm gonna be fine, but...I'm really not sure."

Phoebe nodded.

"It's going to be hard and it's going to hurt, sis. But you will be okay, because you're not alone. You let me lean on you when I lost..." she swallowed. "...when I lost Cole. I'm here for you to lean on... and so is Piper."

She smiles just a little then, "thanks Pheebes, I really appreciate that, and you know I'm really glad you're happy and everything worked out."

She pauses for a moment wondering whether she should tell her this next bit, "I saw James last night and he was being...well nice actually, I told him about Geoff and he didn't explode or anything."

Phoebe bit the inside of her cheek hard enough to draw blood. "Maybe he realizes that you're hurting enough and anything else would add to it?" she said nicely.
