Phoebe opens up the lounge in a very good mood... even if she is trying to write a mid-term for a class to take on Thursday.

Kiki pokes her head in, and, seeing Phoebe and Bel, raises an eyebrow and says, "Afternoon, you two. Is it safe to come in?" She's smiling at them, however, although she looks a little sad.

Phoebe looks up and nods at Kiki. "Of course it's safe, BFF. Why wouldn't it be?"

"Hey," Bel said warily.

"Hey, Bel," Kiki smiles at him. He and Phoebe look so happy together that she's sure they've really begun working things out, and she's not about to draw attention to any of that. "I just wanted to be sure I wasn't, um, interrupting anything. Anyway, I'm trying to find my books for Western Lit. I thought I might have left them here. I've got Independent Study this afternoon."

Phoebe points to the table where hers are. "Hey, Kiki... I've been re-reading some passages in Inferno..."

Cole stretched out on the couch. "You two go ahead and study," he said, "I'll just go over my Celtic Studies notes."

"Don't forget about the importance of the swanlings in that story," Phoebe said with a laugh.

Kiki is hunting under some of the chairs. "There they are!" She emerges triumphantly with dust in her hair, and sets Frankenstein, Faust and Inferno down on the table. Brushing herself off, she asks Phoebe, "I was actually going to ask you about the Inferno. Do you really think we're going to be in one of the deepest levels of hell just because we're witches?"

Phoebe takes a seat. She sighs, running a hand through her hair. "I've been thinking about that, Kiki. It seems that by just being who we are, we're cursed or condemned. But I don't like that widely-held belief. Besides... I think you and I ahve been to the deepest levels of hell right here in Fandom."

"There is something to that idea," Kiki nods, sitting down. Resting her chin on her hand she says, "Ever since I d- ever since I caught a glimpse of what comes next, I've been curious about it. I'm not so sure Dante is right, but I can't say I got a very good look."

Phoebe nods at her. "I've wondered the same thing since Klea tore through my mind. I'm not ready to die, but I am curious about the other side. We may have to add that to our list of things to ~~investigate~~ read about."

"Without," Kiki remarks, "actually going there ourselves. I'd rather not repeat that experience!"

[ooc: I think I might, on my home comp. I'll check when I get home tonight :) ]

Phoebe nods emphatically. "I knew I was going to die that night and I'd rather not come close to it again. I also know what you went through and so not willing to come that close to losing you again. So yes, investigating without dying ourselves."

She tilts her head. "So besides the witches and hell thing, what else did you find interesting about Inferno?"

"Well - I do think Dante was on to something with his punishments fitting the crimes," Kiki muses. "It's that karmic retribution again, just like we talked about in Magical Theory. Either there's some borrowing going on between two very opposed ideologies, or there's something universal about that idea."

She's still coming back from the discussion about what's on the other side after death and it's making her see her premonition again. She swallows, staring at the table as she listens to Kiki.

She looks up when Kiki mentions punishments and Phoebe's eyes seem to brighten with the karmic retribution idea. "I agree that there is something to that idea."

Kiki looks puzzled. "Ehr...yes, I mean, it is a sort of founding tenet in most magical systems and religions," she says slowly, "But it sounds like that's not quite what you're getting at."

"I just find it interesting that the punishments that fit the crimes... don't always have to be cruel or dangerous..."

"I...suppose not," Kiki answers, still bemused. "Do you have some crime you want to punish?"

Phoebe raises an eyebrow, hoping Kiki picks up on what she's thinking.

"Perhaps... and mirrors are such a lovely way to require retribution..."

Kiki's jaw drops. "You... you want to punish Mr. Crowley," she cries, agape. She pauses, considering. "You know... there's something to that idea," Kiki nods. "He did take our knickers, after all..."

A downright wicked spark begins to twinkle in Kiki's eyes.

Phoebe nods slowly as a matching spark starts taking root in her eyes, as well.

"Nighties of sinful slinkiness without underwear... I think that deserves some form of karmic retribution delivered by two witches who are such good students in Geoff's class..."

Bel looked up sharply at Kiki's outburst.

"We have to be creative," Phoebe nods. "What he did doesn't justify any sort of violence, not that we could anyway. But something that measures up to the embarrassment we suffered."

Kiki is nodding. "Right... right..." She nibbles on her knuckle a moment and then starts to snicker.

"Paisley."

"Paisley?"
