Assistants' Lounge 1/11

Thursday morning before first period, Walter opened the TA's lounge and had to blow dust off the coffee maker before he could get some going. It seemed that no one had been in here in months.

Well, he couldn't really point fingers. He'd had a key since September and hadn't abused it. But he was now.

There was coffee and he decided he'd have his lunch there today as well.

"People were too attached to an egg to drop it off the roof?" Walter asked slowly.

That so did not work in his head.

"I have Vader's class this semester. I'll be prepared for eggs if he does it again."

Now there was a little fuzzy creature with Nadia's face jumping up and down in his head.

Beautiful.

"That almost makes me wish Miss Skeeter were around."

A chinchilla in a waistcoat joined the Nadia chinchilla in his head.

"Would I do something like that?"

"We could pad them and everything, too," Tyler said. "It made no sense. I think people just like to show off how precious and sensitive they are." His tone made it clear what he thought of that.

He shrugged. "The eggs were our finale, but I don't know if they're it for you guys too. Our TA taught for the last month."

"Just wondering about what Sir Hellsing could possibly been thinking when he signed you up for that class."

"The things you must think of me," Walter said mock-reproachfully. "To think you'd expect that I might want to see my girlfriend transformed into a little furry animal that jumps quite high and, so I've heard, dispenses rum."

"With him? 'Damn, I almost missed the dartboard,'" Walter suggested, although poking at Arthur was almost more habit than anything else.

"Or to learn that there are many beings with godlike egos."

"Right then. I'll remember that you and Jack are the sensible ones." Getting sentimental over eggs?

"Who was the TA? Were the eggs his or her idea?"

"We'd have to keep you away from the pirates. I could be your heroic rescuer protecting you from the privateers who were out to steal your rum away from you."

And then, he could turn her back into Nadia with a kiss... No. Wait. That meant kissing a rodent.

And then, he could turn her back into Nadia with a drink with an umbrella in it. Much better.

"Right." If there was any danger of Walter forgetting Pippi's perspicacity, she'd come along and say something like that.

"And what is on Miss Longstocking's agenda today?"

Walter nodded. Of course she would. "You'd be the terror of the seven seas. But then you run the risk of losing a body part. It's a pirate thing. A hand, a leg, maybe an eye."

Nadia wrinkled her nose. "That wouldn't be any fun. But Pippi's a pirate, and she has all her body parts."

"Other than his mind? Not that I noticed." The mind was a pretty big something to be missing.
