Assistants' Lounge, Wed afternoon

With free time before Self-Defense, Angel went down to the Assistants' Lounge and made himself comfortable.

Sean was there. He nosed around all the new things, his attention occasionally drawn to a certain cabinet.

Angel was busy drawing. Depending on when someone looked over his shoulder they might notice rough drafts of campaign posters, sketches of a certain blonde he'd gone out with on Sunday, or pictures that were really not appropriate for children to be looking at this last catagory might or might not have overlapped with the pictures of the blonde.

There was a pot of fresh coffee brewing.

"Oh, that," Angel said, waving it off as though it were nothing. Then he had to cough. "Uh, actually I don't know. That all came about when I was a little, uh, busy. Seems fairly arbitrary though. There's places where liberal and conservative mean the opposite of what they do here."

Alanna raised a brow. "So in other words, the only purpose of political labels is to confuse people?"

"Tsk, so mean to my Little Brother," Angel chided. "Besides, who would you rather have on the Council? Him or somebody who's just a seat filler?"

"Well, kinda, yeah," Angel admitted. "Like today: lotta stuff gets named that does the opposite of what it's called. But most people don't read past the names so they don't notice."

"Angel, I realise the whole slow thing is frustrating," Callisto raised an eyebrown and tilted her head around. "But do John and Aeryn know you've been watching them?"

Murphy's Law is a btich sometimes.

Alanna nodded. "Some things never change." She looked at the couch. "If I take a nap now, will I wake up for Self-Defense club later?"

"What? No! No!" Angel tried to turn the page. Unfortunately that only showed another set of positions. "I - uh - this isn't what it looks like."

"Is it after 7th period?" Angel asked. "I've got class then. Could wake you up before I go."

"It's around six o'clock." Alanna yawned. "Waking me up when you leave would be great."

Rory tilted her head at it. "Well, communism is a good idea. Doesn't work in practice, but nice in theory."

"Really?" Callisto frowned and filed away several of the positions. "Because it sure looks like it."

Parker groaned, unable to argue with him. "I hate that this is my life." Mumbling under her breath, she added, "I'm outta here. Don't rip down *any* of the posters."

"This isn't spying!" Angel said, as though that should be perfectly obvious. "It's helping!"

"Helping?" Angel really wasn't helping himself. "I do hope it's not hands on help."

"If it was hands on I wouldn't need the pictures now, would I?" Angel gave her the book so she could see the drawings, complete with notes temporarily forgetting about the ones of her, ZOMG. "Cam and I are staging an intervention. Turns out John doesn't know how to be there for Aeryn, if you catch my drift."

"You got it," Angel promised, and did just that before he left.

"In theory," Angel agreed. He made a face at his drawing. "Still, champion? Me? God that sounds stupid."

"Sure you wouldn't," Callisto muttered, flicking though the drawings, every now and then she glanced at Angel suspiciously, since she certainly didn't remember posing for that. "I know, I was there."

"It's different. I liked your metaphor and stuff in ACJ," Rory offered.

"You were there? When was this, before I moved in?"

"Oh. Thanks." Angel looked pleased. "I'm not - uh - really good with words. I hope it's what the Professor was looking for."

"It is," Rory nodded. "'Sides, he's not the one who grades them anyway," she added with a grin.

Callisto might have been a tiny bit distracted by the drawings. "No Monday night."

"Ahhhh," Angel said, with understanding. "In which case can I bribe you with another cup of freshly-brewed coffee?"
