"I haven't had a chance to, but I doubt he'll be upset or anything. He told me that he wasn't going to try to keep me from you. As long as I honour my vow, if you and I do get back together, it's fine with him."

She nodded at him. "I'd like that," she said softly.

"Figured I could just get a pass and shimmer to Japan," Bel said. "Pick one up that way. I need to have it by Tuesday, so not really time to order one."

"I won't share you with him," Cole growled.

"That sucks," Cameron concluded and tilted his head. "Have you considered branching out to people who don't eat other people for breakfast?"

"Don't think so," Angela said, recognizing her chances to keep this encounter light were rapidly fading. "I think Logan Echolls was the one with the concussion."

She stood, picking up her bookbag and backing toward the door. "I should probably get back to the library. I think I left my government book, and I should, you know. Get it."

"Shimmer? Sounds nifty," John says, nodding. "I think I'm gonna go with the boring chocolate and flowers and stuff. If I tried to shimmer, I'd pull a groin or something."

Phoebe shook her head, biting back her temper. "Do I really need to say anything, Cole? You made a promise. I made a promise."

Well that answered that question. "Make sure to get candles in the same scent, and maybe some bath oil," she added.

"The guys had a meeting? That must have been interesting, I'm almost afraid to ask what they suggested. You're definitely better sticking with other women for advice."

"I'm going to find a way out of that contract if it kills me," Cole said.

"Angelus was kinda my guardian," Bel said, "and then he got turned into Angel and didn't want me anymore, so Darla offered to be my guardian and I said yes."

"You don't have to go," Bel said. "I can change the subject or something."

"Oh, it's not for Valentine's Day," Bel said. "I mean, I need it by then, but it's for sociology class. Me and Allie have to do a marriage ceremony."

Phoebe shook her head. "No, you won't. This is my responsibility, not yours."

"There was a whole lot of flailing and cluelessness," Bel said. "Guess part of the problem is a lot of the girls here aren't the flowers and chocolate type. They're the guns and knives type. Which I kinda understand since that's the way it is back home."

"We'll see," Cole grumbled, crossing his arms.

Phoebe narrowed her eyes at this. "Cole, please, don't make me play dirty when it comes to this."

Sorry," Bel said, hanging his head. "Didn't mean to scare you."

Allie felt guilty. "It's okay," she assured him. "I guess it's more that I had no idea and it kind of makes me wonder if there's stuff about other people I don't know. I know you wouldn’t hurt me."

He smiled at her. "Glad to hear it," he said. "You're pretty cool. Anybody gives you trouble, let me know. I can take care of them for you." "

Uh, thanks, I guess," Allie said, still feeling a bit unsettled. She glanced down at her tablet. "Okay, um, so kimonos?"

"White for you, black for me," Bel said. "You want me to handle getting them? Ordering them won't get them to us in time.""

Yeah, if you don't mind," she said. "I can handle the money and figure out how to make the cranes. And I guess I can pick up juice, but where are we going to find flat cups?"

"Let me handle that one, too," Bel said. "I'll let you know if I run into any trouble. We'll improvise if we have to."

Allie nodded and scribbled some more notes. "Oh, and a fan. I think I might have one of those laying around, so I'll handle that, too."

"You can try," Cole said, unable to help but be amused. "Hello, demon."

And that didn't make any sense either. "Your guardian how? I'm gonna guess we're not talking about legal sense of the word."

Bel chuckled. "It's kinda complicated. Okay, so my mother handed me off to Raynor, my foster father. Raynor gave me to Angelus. Angelus is gone so there was no one to make any legal decisions for me, so Darla got some paperwork done and made herself my new guardian. Doesn't matter much now since I just turned 21, but for awhile it was legal."

Phoebe gave a dark smile. "Hello, Phoebe, stubborn witch." Her eyes were pained and she made a quick decision. He was going to hate her, but damn it, her word meant something, too. "You try to take my free will and my responsibility to deal with this... and I'll do something that both of us will regret."

"Fine. Whatever. I guess I just shouldn't care then," Bel snapped.

"At least my promise doesn't end with several people dead!" she snapped back, pissed because tears were in her eyes over this.

Bel nodded. "Okay. Want to get together Sunday or Monday and rehearse how we're going to do this then?"

"Sure, Monday will probably work better for me ~~cause zomg, I’ll be on a plane on Sunday!~~. Where do you want to meet? I have classes fourth and fifth, but should be free other than that."

"How about seventh period, here?" Bel suggested. "If it's crowded we can find an empty classroom or something."

"Sounds like a plan," she said, offering a tentative smile.

"Cool, I'll plan on it then," Bel said.

"Good, um, let me know if you have trouble with any of that stuff you’re supposed to get so we can figure out a plan B."

"~~I'm going to swap bodies with you?~~ Will do," Bel said, flashing Allie a smile. "I'll give you a call and let you know."

Allie started gathering her belongings and stood to leave. "Okay, have a good weekend."

"You too," Bel said. "See you Monday."

"You don't know that for sure," Cole said. "And this is different."
