Assistants Lounge -- Friday, February 10

With only one class on Friday, Bel opened up the Assistants Lounge and settled in for a relaxing day of reading up on Japanese weddings.

Relaxing a bit more, Cameron put his books down on the table and took a seat. "Got any plans?"

"I'm thinking flowers and a necklace," Bel said. "And some of that girly bath stuff. She likes those kind of things. How about you and your girl?"

Cameron grimaced. "I'm still broke from Christmas and haven't been able to show up for work much. I think I'm going to have to keep things simple. I had some ideas, but they're pretty impossible on this island."

Bel chuckled a little. "Yeah, this place is pretty small," he agreed. "I'm hoping there's a costume shop tucked away somewhere, or else I may have to ask for a pass to shimmer to Japan to get some kimonos for my sociology assignment."

"You can teleport that far?" Cameron asked in surprise. "I don't suppose you can just order them online?"

"I can go between dimensions and everything," Bel said casually. "I'd order them and skip the hassle of a pass, but we need to do this Tuesday and I don't know if we could get them in time."

"Yeah, if you want the real thing." Cameron frowned. "Should I ask what you need them for or don't I want to know?"

"We have to do wedding ceremony recreations for Sociology of Sex Cultures," Bel explained. "Me and Allie Cameron are paired together to do a Japanese ceremony." He showed Cam a picture of the outfit he wanted to wear. "Pretty cool, huh?"

"For a skirt, I suppose." Cameron smirked.

"I'd dare you to call it a skirt to a samurai if there were any around," Bel said, grinning.

"At least I'll die laughing," Cameron snorted. "That's a skirt, I don't care who is wearing it."

"Bet I could still kick your ass while wearing it," Bel said good-naturedly, not a threat at all.

Cameron raised an eyebrow. "Probably, but I reserve the right to blame it on my shoulder."

"That from vampire hunting?" Bel asked nonchalantly.

Cameron nodded and watched carefully for a reaction as he spoke. "Yeah. Second vamp I faced grabbed me by the arm and slammed me right into the wall. I ended up dislocating my shoulder."

"Did you get him?" Bel asked, leaning forward. The fate of minions didn't bother him. It was Darla he was more concerned with.

"With Marty's help," Cameron frowned and maybe he should let it rest, but it was hard not to ask. "Do you think that's a good or a bad thing?"

Bel shrugged. "You're pretty cool, so it would be a shame if you got killed. But Darla's like my mom now, so I don't want her hurt, either. Some random vampire minion? Couldn't care less."

"Thanks. I think," Cameron frowned. "Weird family to pick out youself."

"The one I was born with isn't much better," Bel said simply. "I consider Darla an improvement."

"That sucks," Cameron concluded and tilted his head. "Have you considered branching out to people who don't eat other people for breakfast?"

"Angelus was kinda my guardian," Bel said, "and then he got turned into Angel and didn't want me anymore, so Darla offered to be my guardian and I said yes."

And that didn't make any sense either. "Your guardian how? I'm gonna guess we're not talking about legal sense of the word."

Bel chuckled. "It's kinda complicated. Okay, so my mother handed me off to Raynor, my foster father. Raynor gave me to Angelus. Angelus is gone so there was no one to make any legal decisions for me, so Darla got some paperwork done and made herself my new guardian. Doesn't matter much now since I just turned 21, but for awhile it was legal."

"Okay... But now you're free to do what you want," Cameron pointed out.
