Bel opened up the Assistants' Lounge for the day. He was still in a good mood about telling Logan to stay away from Angel last night. Petty? Nah, not at all.

"Okay," he said, then added with a grin, "Behaving. Mostly. How about you?"

She managed to come up with a very small smile. "I heard. That's good." She shrugged, "I'm okay. Been busy mostly. I'm glad the bouncing stopped though."

Bel rolled his eyes. "Yeah, that was a brilliant trick of Logan's, wasn't it? And they call me careless with magic. Glad you're better, though."

Isabel sighed, "It's actually a bit funny in retrospect. And honestly? In the grand scheme of things? It was pretty minor. There are definitly worse things that can happen."

"I haven't had a chance to say anything before, but I'm glad you made the choice you did. If there's anything I can ever do to help..."

"Thanks," Bel said with a small smile. "You were actually a big part of that. I mean, you didn't get all judgmental on me. You talked to me and tried to understand why I was doing what I was doing. It helped me realize I was wrong." He flashed her a bigger grin. "I'm sure Angel appreciates it, too."

"I understand feeling like you don't have a choice," Isabel said, staring into her coffee cup. "But I'm glad I was able to help."

She looked up from her coffee and tried to smile. "I'm pretty sure he does. And so do the rest of us."

"You okay?" Bel said. "You seem...kinda down."

"Just stuff," she shrugged. "There's nothing I can do about it. And I'm really not in the mood to give a funny speech today."

Rolling his eyes, Bel nodded. "Tell me about it. I don't have any idea what I'm going to do for mine."

"I know," Isabel grimaced. "I honestly think I'll be making mine up about two minutes before it's my turn to speak. I was thinking about talking about privacy." No she wasn't bitter. Not at all. "Professor Cregg told me it doesn't necessarily have to be funny."

Bel gave Isabel a questioning look but decided not to press. "Same here," he said. "About making it up I mean. Funniest thing I can think of was the radio last night saying that Angel dumped Logan, but I know not everyone finds that as amusing as I do."

"Yeah, I've already praised President Bush. I don't think that will work again."

Isabel snorted. She'd read the issue of the paper she had missed while she was in Roswell and knew all about the results of the boykissy poll. "I'm sure," Isabel said dryly.

"Well, humor in the Underworld relies mainly on humiliating an enemy," Bel said. "I'm not used to any other kind."

"I can see where that wouldn't translate well," Isabel said. "Major culture clash."

"Just another thing I have to learn on my path to goodness and justice," Bel said, winking at Isabel.

Isabel is actually starting to be somewhat amused by the conversation. "It's going to be hard work, learning to be a white hat. You need to develop you banter skills. The good guys are always quick with the banter."

"Explain Angel then," Bel said. "He's not so much with the banter. Or the words at all. And he makes confusing hand motions."

"Angel is.... the exception to the rule," Isabel truly laughed for the first time that morning. "The hand motions are funny though."

"What do you think this means?" Bel asked, making a nebulous hand motion that could be Little Bunny Foo Foo or a signal for a fastball.

"I think we need a spotlight. And a blank wall. It's got to be a shadow puppet of some kind." Isabel looked around the room to see if there was a handy lamp.

"I think it might be a duck," Bel said, making the hand motion again. "Possibly one with two heads."

"Oh, he's imitating the local critters? Cause around here? A two-headed duck wouldn't surprise me."

"I don't think a shadow puppet show would count for our speech would it?" Isabel asked.

"Maybe Professor Cregg would let us do a tandem thing. The world according to Angel." Pause. "He'll kill us both, you know."
