Assistant's Lounge [3/27]

After Sociology of Violence, Veronica headed to the TA Lounge instead of going back to her room. She may have been trying to avoid thinking about what happened in Neptune over the weekend.

She started a pot of coffee and flopped down on the couch to finish reading the copy of Cosmo she had picked up at the airport yesterday.

"If you're honestly concerned about Parker's well being, then I guess not," Veronica admitted. "But Jarod is really nice."

"Says you."

[ooc: going to lunch soon, back in about an hour or so]

"What? You don't trust my judgment?" she countered.

"I'm saying you don't have a guy's perspective on these things," Angel said. "I do."

[ooc: lunch, aaaaany second now...]

"Oh, well, in that case, please enlighten me with your guy's perspective," Veronica said, settling back to listen.

[don't you dare reply to this until you get back1 which might be after I've left to go to the airport, fyi...]

"I don't know," Angel pointed out. "I haven't met him yet. But guys can tell another guy's bull long before girls can."

"Really? So do you think I have anything to worry about?" she asked.

"You mean with Logan?" Angel asked. "Nonsense. Logan's great. Totally nuts about you too."

Veronica smiled. "Well the feeling is definitely mutual, so that's good to hear. From a guy's perspective, you know.'

"This guy gives Logan the stamp of approval," Angel said. "No question."

"How's everything with you and Callisto?" Veronica asked. "We should really plan another double date soon."

"We should," Angel said with a smile. "Weren't we talking movies at some point? And things are going great. Especially now that there's things to be going. Stupid Janet."

"You know, I think we were," she said. "Maybe this weekend? Logan and I both had kind of crappy weekends this past weekend so we're planning to have a good weekend this weekend. And I can't imagine not having fun with the four of us."

"I can't either," Angel agreed. "But what about you? What happened?"

"I... um... ran into some people I'd rather not have talked to," she said.

"Anything you want to talk about?"

"I ran into my ex," Veronica said. She suddenly found the floor fascinating.

"Ahh, that's always fun," Angel said. "I had to deal with that the last time I was in Sunnydale. Of course we weren't technically exes then. How'd it go with you?"

"Not so great," she admitted. "I found out that he had a baby with the girl he dated after me."

"Wow. That's pretty huge," Angel said. "Get married too?"

"No. Apparently she went to live with an aunt or something and he didn't even know she was pregnant until the baby was born." Veronica hoped that Angel wouldn't pick up on her extreme guilt over the whole situation.

"Sounds like she was pretty freaked out," Angel said.

"She... had good reason to be," Veronica said. "Have Logan or I ever mentioned Duncan to you?"

They hadn't, but once upon a time someone with Angel's eyes and hands had done research into Logan's background. "The brother of Logan's ex, right? The one who died?"

Veronica nodded. "He was Logan's best friend and my boyfriend. My first love. We broke up right before Lilly was killed. He eventually started dating Meg, but he didn't react well when he found out Logan and I were dating."
