Assistant's Lounge [3/27]

After Sociology of Violence, Veronica headed to the TA Lounge instead of going back to her room. She may have been trying to avoid thinking about what happened in Neptune over the weekend.

She started a pot of coffee and flopped down on the couch to finish reading the copy of Cosmo she had picked up at the airport yesterday.

"She... had good reason to be," Veronica said. "Have Logan or I ever mentioned Duncan to you?"

They hadn't, but once upon a time someone with Angel's eyes and hands had done research into Logan's background. "The brother of Logan's ex, right? The one who died?"

Veronica nodded. "He was Logan's best friend and my boyfriend. My first love. We broke up right before Lilly was killed. He eventually started dating Meg, but he didn't react well when he found out Logan and I were dating."

"Probably still had a thing for you," Angel said.

"He still does," Veronica said quietly.

Angel was quiet for a moment. "That can happen."

"But he... I..." she faltered, unsure exactly how much she wanted to share. "Well, it turns out that his reasons for breaking up with me were good reasons at the time, though he didn't share them with me then," she said. "And... well, I found out some other stuff after that and..." she sighed. "He makes me uncomfortable," she finally said.

"Then, speaking as a guy, don't go near him," Angel said.

"I wasn't planning to," she said. "He kind of cornered me."

"Hit him with your taser?"

That got a small smile. "No, I didn't have it on me."

"Okay, see, next time do that."

"There won't be a next time," Veronica said.

[stepping afk for 20-30 minutes]

"I can second that motion," Angel said. "Think he'll stay away from you?"

"He doesn't know where I am," she said. "So I shouldn't have to worry about it until I go home again."

"When's that gonna be?"

Veronica shrugged. "No idea."

"But you're okay?" Angel asked. "After dealing with him?"

"I... think so?" she said. "It brought back some bad memories."

"Exes can do that," Angel agreed, though now he was thinking of Darla.

"Yeah," Veronica agreed. "Hey, do me a favor?"

"~~What, no head tilt?~~ Sure, what's up?" Angel asked.

~~Do I really need to bust it out?~~ "I don't want Logan to worry or to get mad at Duncan," she said.

"~~Just don't want to come off like I'm easy~~ So you want me to lie to the guy I just became friends with again."

~~You're not?~~ "Not lie," Veronica clarified. "Just not mention it? I promise that if I think it's going to become a problem, I will, okay?"
