"Until the pictures show up in the yearbook," Bel said. "You're right though. I should stop thinking about it so much and just do it and get it over with."
"Exactly. Get it over with and then go have a drink. I'd offer to have one with you but that would be bad for two reasons," Isabel said with a grin. "One? Your girlfriend might get pissed. And two? Stupid alien metabolism. I can't drink."
"I only wish." She rolled her eyes and pushed back her hair. "But apparently just a sip or two of anything alcoholic is enough to make us completely drunk. Sorry, but I'm not willing to give up control like that."
"No, but my brother did. The idiot." She took another sip of coffee and tucked her legs up under her on the couch. "He was moping because Liz, the girl he was in love with, was out on a blind date with another guy. He had a beer with another friend and wound up spending the night acting like an idiot. It's a wonder we weren't found out then."
"Thanks, me to," Isabel smiled. "As far as we know, yes. But who knows what we'll find out as we get older." Her smile faded, "I wonder sometimes, if I can have kids, and if so what will they be like. Will they even be human? Not that it really matters, I don't think there'll be much time to have a family if I have to go save our planet."
