TA Lounge, Thursday 14th Sept

Now Mac has her TA lounge keys, she's going to make the most of it. Jake told her way back when she first arrived that the coffee there was the best in the school. She's just testing out that theory.

She has her laptop playing music at her, lots of coffee, pens, and a large stack of paper to keep her occupied.

"Yeah," Mac said, and nodded. "We were at the spa thing together back in January," she added in the hope it might jog her memory.

."...I'm such an idiot," Angela said. "Sorry. And you're my TA for the Internet class, too."

Mac chuckled, "No worries." She pointed at herself, "Mac, and I'm actually still getting over yesterday's internet class. I think AOL is out to get me."

"It wouldn't take my username and made me buy a leatherette travel case," Angela said, sounding deeply traumatized. "Definitely evil."

"It made you buy things?" Mac's disgust at AOL is growing daily. "At least with me it was just being creepy. That little yellow dude truly is something else." Then she added, "and it called me Cindy, several times. Ugh."

"I gave it a fake credit card, so hopefully no one will have to pay?," Angela said. "Why Cindy? That's bizarre."

[OOC: I once was up for a job at AOL and they tried to make me order a month of service to take their test. DEEPLY evil people.]

"Well, if you get the bag you can always set fire to it or something," Mac said. "I hear that's a very cleansing experience."

"Mac's just a nickname, my parents named me Cindy, for who knows what reason." She pulls a face at the idea, "I think it has something to do with the painkillers my mother was on at the time. I'm lucky it wasn't Barbie, really."

"That's Rory Gilmore's excuse for why her mom named her after herself," Angela said. "And yeah, you don't seem like a Cindy, but Barbie would be way worse."

She smiled. "If I do get the bag, we can have a whole ceremonial bonfire."

"My mother is the only one who insists on calling me... that." She shrugged, "I stick with Mac, it's way better in my opinion. Also, shorter."

Mac grinned, "Yep, and I'll make a yellow AOL man guy to stick on the top. Like they do in England. They burn effigies as a national holiday, I figure we should be able to as well."

"Peter Pevensie was telling me about that," Angela said. "Guy Fawkes day. It sounded really cool. The ceremonial burning of AOL would work wityh that tradition."

"I thought so." Mac nodded, "AOL's crimes are definitely on a par with plotting to blow up the houses of parliament. It's only right."

"So, I never asked you, what class is it you TA for?"

"I'm not," Angela said. "I'm a library aide, but we get keys. And to hang out with the books all day."

Mac nodded, "Oh, awesome. I thought about applying as a library aide. Then I figured I probably had enough on my plate without adding more stuff to do. Sounds like a cool job though."

"I've been there since last Thanksgiving," Angela said. "It's a lot of fun. I'm sort of phasing it out, though. I could use a job that pays money, and I want to give someone new a chance."

"Ah, it all comes down to money in the end. It sucks just a little." She took a long sip of her now lukewarm coffee before continuing. " I tend to do a lot of bits of website design on the side," Mac said. "That earns me a little, keeps me in vegan foodstuffs all term, that kind of thing."

"I wish I could do that,": Angela said enviously. "I think I need to find a retail job. And you're Vegan? Cool. I kind of want to go vegetarian but..." she trailed off vaguely. "Hasn't happened."

Mac shrugged, "It's always been one of those things that I get. I figure if it's easy, and earns me money, it's got to be all good."

"Most people think I'm crazy for being vegan," she smiled happily, liking the idea that there were people out there who thought it was cool. "I can see why you'd hesitate though, it does get a little frustrating when you can't eat all the stuff everyone else does."

"Half the people in this school are aliens or mutants, and people think you're weird for not eating eggs?," Angela rolled her eyes. "My dad's a chef, so eating's kind of a big thing for him and I hate turning it down --- it's like turning down love, if that makes sense. But I get the whole thing about hurting animals."

Mac laughed, "Well, actually people here are way better about it than people at home. Maybe it is something to do with the high weirdness quotient around here."

"I think my mother wants to have me committed for not having roast with them. I can see how if your Dad is really into his cooking it is a shame to have to refuse it."

"But it's not like he cooks for me here," Angela said thoughtfully, finishing her coffee. "Maybe I could juust be vegetarian at school? Hey, speaking of work stuff, I should check out things at the library. I'll see you around."

"Try it on a part time basis maybe?" Mac suggested. "It's easier than you'd think."

"See you later, enjoy the books."
