Assistants' Lounge 1/11

Thursday morning before first period, Walter opened the TA's lounge and had to blow dust off the coffee maker before he could get some going. It seemed that no one had been in here in months.

Well, he couldn't really point fingers. He'd had a key since September and hadn't abused it. But he was now.

There was coffee and he decided he'd have his lunch there today as well.

"I told her a little, but she didn't sound that interested. So I think I told her enough."

"I was a TA last semester for Miss Poppins. It isn't bad at all, actually," he admitted. "A key to the TA lounge, the opportunity to impress your teacher without having to really work too hard to do so, and a pretty easy expectation of a good grade."

Considering what effect Rambaldi seemed to have on some, Walter wasn't disappointed in the least.

"I suppose Pippi and I will end up telling her about last summer. It's sort of what the class is about, after all." He just hated admitted to screwing things up so badly.

Nadia nodded. "But you'll probably learn how to avoid it happening again. Oh! You should ask about the stuff we found in the boat."

"That's right! You still have that, then? I could take it in to class or stop by her office during office hours."

"Yeah, it's in my closet. I've been kind of afraid to touch it. I don't want to turn into a chinchilla randomly, or anything.'

"It seems like a useful class. I'm not sure how useful this 'Tremble Foolish Mortals, the Gods and You' class is going to be. I don't really need that for my work."

"If you ever turn into a chinchilla, you must let me pet you and feed you things. I'd do the same for you if I turned into a squirrel, after all."

She'd probably make such a cute chinchilla he might aww in public. How embarrassing.

"That's true. Although it might be some sort of wrong if you turned into a chinchilla and I turned into a squirrel at the same time. Is that 'the love that dare not speak its name?'"

"I don't know. I would have told you that was impossible at one time, but now?" All he had for that was a shrug.

Pippi considers the implications.

Possibly it's less about the class and more about dealing with a person who sees himself as immortal, has a very good chance at being so, and possibly has a huge ego.

Now who would Walter know that's like that?

"And Ms. Frost is hot in a scary blond trying-too-hard telepath way," Tyler conceded. "Could be a lot worse, even if I do end up changing a few diapers."

Somehow the image of Tyler changing diapers was both disturbing and hilarious.

He went with hilarious.

"I never pictured you as the daddy type." Then again, he didn't really picture anyone here as the parental type. They were teenagers. Sheesh.

"I was a very good co-daddy to an egg last semester," Tyler said, eyes alight. "But anything more alive? Yeah, it's not really my thing."

"Alright, I kept hearing about people and their eggs," Walter said. "Just what was the purpose of that?"

"Pup hasn't been able to get Mr. Neilson yet," Walter agreed. "And it's not for lack of trying.

"Do chinchillas climb?"

"Vader screwing with us," Tyler said. "And then Jack and I were almost the only people in class not to get too attached to drop the egg from the roof. It was kind of bizarre."
