Rikku got to the TA lounge early, and set up the masks and cloaks outside of it, with a note above that read

PLEASE TAKE ONE

She got her own mask and cloak in place, in case anyone showed up early. There was a handy stash of rum placed outside to distract any radio squirrels.

Now: to wait.

Momoko grinned and bounced as soon as she saw the sign. this was gonna be so cool! She selected a mask that looked the least like she'd pick and grabbed a cloak. So cool. She was gonna be grinning evil-ly for hours.

Eve took slightly longer to think about this than she'd taken to think about throwing her lot in.

"Snapshot."

"Red Kite," Reno said, simply. A bird of prey. Fitting enough, he figured.

Oh, man, seriously, Amber didn't hesitate.

"I'm in."

Rikku hesitated, toying with a few options. Finally, she said, "Mercury."

It was her sigil; she could certainly borrow its name

Francine... wasn't collecting anything, because she was already dressed in a long black raincoat and... well, it was sort of a mask. She was just scuttling down the hall with her homework under her arm when she ran smack into the group of people going into the TA lounge, and rather than call attention to herself, well. Here she was.

"Something that speaks to you," ~~Rikku~~ Mercury said. "An ability or a talent. Maybe an animal, or a natural phenomenon. Something that you're associated with."

She frowned. "Or just pick a couple of words that sound really cool."

"You picked a pretty fancy face for yourself," ~~Reno~~ Red Kite noted, tilting his head slightly. "Gold leaf an' all that. Maybe play on that face, yo."

The 'yo' kind of gave away his identity. Ah well. It was a hard habit to kick.

Anonymous.Anonymous.Anonymous. Must.control.hyper! Anonymous.Anonymous.

"Me too. In."

She trembled with the urge to bounce, despite the prospect of possible illegalities.

"I have no idea what to call myself," she said, clearly with the tone that implied she was trying to be thinky here.

Tyler didn't go in, but he walked down the hall near the club's meeting time and saw a flash of blond hair and an orange shirt.

A card or a letter or a note in the mirror? What? Francine didn't see any of those. What with hiding in her closet for the last two days. But she wasn't about to say so. Because then people might look at her.

If she didn't say anything, though, they might look at her too. So when other people said, "I'm in," so did Francine. In a rough, growly voice that came out sounding a little like Katchoo, if Katchoo was five foot ten with a southern accent.

Jess had to admit, a mask and cloak was perfect for hiding after the weekend from hell.

She had an ego, okay? It was pretty!

Either way, she grinned. "I could be totally ridiculous and make all of you call me, Princess."

Ino contemplated that. "I'm fairly sure most people could guess if I picked something related to me."

A beat.

"Random words then." Hmmmm.

"Something cool," Mercury decided. "Like, a talent that you have, or something you wish you had, or something you really like about yourself, and then make it sound spiffy. Or elements, or animals, or mythical people."

"Princess Glitterface?" Red Kite smirked with a small nod. "Bane of unsuspectin' peasantry everywhere."

"Let's see. I like kittens and have never been able to own one for my own. Kitty? Kitty Cat? Uh... I love purple.."

That got a snicker as she rolled that over in her head, adding that with what Cal had said earlier about being popular, and what Mercury had said about picking something that meant something to her.

"That's Princess Butterfly to you," she drawled. "Bow down before me, peasant."

"Kinda lookin' a bit of a ways into the future here," Red Kite admitted, holding out a hand as he spoke, "but I think there's some kinda thing where parents show up, in a couple weeks' time. Could be our chance to do somethin' big, for the visitors from off-island who been thinkin' we're nuts in our letters to home, zoto."

That earned a deep chuckle from the back of Red Kite's throat, and a small shake of his head.

"Been doin' enough kissin' the ass of the elite through my life, I think I'll be happy to just keep sittin' right here."

He smirked.

"Besides, kites are higher up on the food chain, yo."

"Somethin' like Violet Manx, or Mauve Sphinx," Red Kite suggested. "Take some words that mean stuff, and slap 'em together, see what you can come up with, yo."

She laughed. "You ever heard of the butterfly effect? Theory that says one flap of a butterfly's wings might cause a hurricane 'cross the ocean. Food chain ain't everything."
