Still more with cleaning

Angel was up early.

That was so wrong on so many levels.

But he'd promised Krycek to help finish cleaning the Assistants Lounge, and sadly doing that was more fun than contemplating dealing with Parker's forced death march to Student Council.

Angel stood in the doorway to the lounge and pondered what he wanted to attack first.

Sean nosed around. It was possible that he sniffed around the door of one cabinet in particular more often than he did the others, but Sean was a puppy and puppies did weird things sometimes.

"I think it's supposed to be for, like, TAs and the library aides," Angela answers. "But it's not like we have classes right now, so it's really for whoever."

"A TA's loung?" John frowns again. "I'm a TA and I had no idea this was here!"

"I'm a library aide and I didn't either," Angela says. "Idon't think anybody knew about it last term." She frowns. "Whose TA are you? I don't think I knew that, either."

"I was Professor Ted's TA," John tells her. "Loved it. Best class ever."

"Oh, dude, he was our adviser for Deep Thoughts," Angela exclaims. "He's pretty awesome. I'm trying to decide if I should try to take music next semester."

"I loved the music class I took," John tells her, smiling. "It was...different. And we actually listened to cool music, not just that classical stuff that's good but can get very boring after awhile. And there was a scavenger hunt!"

"Sounds cool," Angela says. "So does it matter if you don't play a musical instrument at all? Because I can't."

"I didn't either." John shakes his head. "Nope, this was all learning about music, the different types, and the instruments themselves. No playing involved. We had a few fun projects, class discussions, and snacks!"

"Did he feed you guys Twinkies? We always had 'em in Deep Thoughts," Angela says, clearly interested. "I so want to take this, now. It's just that I also want history and journalism and something with Grissom and a couple other classes... and my parents really want me to try and take math, god knows why. But I might need to fit in music anyhow."

"Yeah, I'd like to get into music again too," John says. "I loved the class and it was almost a way from my brain to relax. Not that it's an easy class but it's a different class and my brain can take a different track when I'm in there. And yeah, we had Twinkies."

"I get that. It sounds like it's not so much 'read this book, take this quiz.' Which I get more than enough of."

"Thanks for telling me about it, seriously."

"No problem," John says. "Hey, how was the IKEA trip? I got the email but overslept. Again."

"It was fun," Angela answers. "Parker and Zero got into a pillow fight and got us escorted out. I spent too much money, but my new stuff is all pretty, so I'm happy."

"Did Zero call Parker Maureen? I can see that starting the pillow fight," John says. "What kinds of stuff did you buy?"

"I'm not sure what started the fight -- I went back to pick out a chair, and when I found them again, there were pillows flying everywhere. But I think Zero values her life too much to call Parker Maureen. Besides, Zero's first name is Skank." Angela wrinkles her nose. "Which is way worse."

"And I got ... too much stuff. The chair, a bookcase, a couple prints for my walls, and a bedspread. Oh, and a rug and pillows for Anders."

"Skank and Maureen," John says, laughing. "Quite a pair. Still, you can add getting escorted out of IKEA to your accomplishments list. Be a great story to tell around the campire one day."

"It's weird how close they are," Angela agrees. "And yeah, they make for good stories. Hey, did you know Parker's birthday is tomorrow? Are people doing anything for that?"

"Parker's birthday is tomorrow?" John immediately begins getting idea. "We have to do something for our dear friend Maureen even if it's just cake and ice cream."

"It is. She's 17, I think?"

Angela picks up on the glint in John's eyes. "Are you thinking ther cake might say something? Like, "happy birthday"?"

"Yeah, cake should definitely say something. Happy birthday Maureen might get us killed so we'll stay away from that," John says, thinking about loud. "Maybe do an impromptu surprise party in one of the common rooms?"

"She's way too touchy about it for it to be much fun to tease her unless you want your ass kicked," Angela agrees. "Unfortunately."

"I like the surprise party idea, though. Or maybe we could do it in here? Might be easier to keep it secret."

"Ooh, doing it here would prevent the chance of someone blowing the surprise," John agrees. "So, we need a cake, maybe some other snacks and a way to quickly spread the word? Should we let Zero in on the planning of this?"

"Sounds about right," Angela says. "And yeah, Zero and Rory should be in on it. Rory's her roommate, so she could get Parker in here pretty easy."

She twirls a piece of hair, thinking. "I wonder if we could somehow get that friend of hers from home who lives in town on campus for the party?"

"Okay, do we wanna do this by email or phone? I figure we could coordinate something basic quick and then it grow from there," John says. "And a friend from town? Special permission?"

"Email is easier," Angela says, thinking. "And I guess someone needs to ask Principal Smith for the permission? Maybe Zero can do that -- I don't know Jarod's last name or anything."

"You want to send a message out, or should I?"
