Still more with cleaning

Angel was up early.

That was so wrong on so many levels.

But he'd promised Krycek to help finish cleaning the Assistants Lounge, and sadly doing that was more fun than contemplating dealing with Parker's forced death march to Student Council.

Angel stood in the doorway to the lounge and pondered what he wanted to attack first.

Sean nosed around. It was possible that he sniffed around the door of one cabinet in particular more often than he did the others, but Sean was a puppy and puppies did weird things sometimes.

Sam resisted the urge to poke the purple stuff. For one thing, she wasn't wearing gloves. For another, she really had no idea what she'd be poking it for.

She squatted down and looked in at the shelf. "It may be salvageable, if that gunk comes off of it. Just needs to be scraped, I think."

"I think you're right," Angela answers. Her right, gloved, hand wields a bleach-soaked sponge, with which she's slowly breaking through the layers of fur and slime; with her left hand -- also gloved -- she picks up the chunks of ... fridge stuff ... and shoves them into a trash bag, trying hard not to look at them.

Or feel them.

Or -- ew -- smell them.

Or think about the colors they're staining her glove.

"I get course credit for this, right?" she jokes.

Sam watched the entire process and backed up a few steps. "I think you should get hazardous duty pay for this," she said, completely serious.

"That would be nice. I should get time and a half, plus a bonus for, like, possible exposure to stuff that might turn me into a gremlin."

She sits back on her heels and survbeys her work. The fridge looks .... not safe, but much better. There's only a thin, slick yellow layer left to deal with.

Sam took another step back. So far Angela hadn't turned into a gremlin, but maybe this was a time exposure thing and contagious not that anything like that would ever happen by accident . She had no desire to be a gremlin.

"You want me to take a crack at that, or is it a quest for you now?"

"I think I'm good. I mean, no point risking you, too, right? Besides, this stuff seems to be dissolving okay."

"But thanks."

"No, that's okay. It's pretty impressive, what you've managed to do. I guess I'll just go back out in the hall and be useful, if you've got this under control."

"I think I do?" Angela says, not sounding quite sure. The yellow stuff is dissolving, but the final remnants are surprisingly tacky, and stick to her gloves as she tries to clean. "Go build stuff. I'll call you if I need help."

"Okay," Sam agreed eagerly, happy to be able to return to her instructions--even if they did appear to be written in Swedish. "Give a yell if you need anything."
