Assistant's Lounge, Mon Morning

Having no classes until Professor Carter's class this evening, Callisto opened up the lounge after dropping by the library.

After making some coffee and flopping down on the couch, she opened up a copy of Vegetius's De Re Militari and started reading.


[The lounge is open for TAs, clinic aides, library staff and invited friends. Only TAs and such have keys, though, and the door is locked when none of them are around. If you're a TA and don't have community membership, request it here.]

Having made her morning deliveries, Kiki's got some time to kill before lunch. She decides to investigate one of the perks of being a TA: the lounge.

"Hi," she waves at the blond girl already there. She looks familiar, but Kiki's not exactly sure of her name - so she leaves the greeting as is rather than risk calling her by the wrong name.

Callisto looked up from Vegetius to wave back to the girl. She remembered her from that magic class which vanished. "Hey...Kiki, right?"

"Right," Kiki smiles back. "I'm TAing for Professor Chaucer. And you - I'm sorry," Kiki bites the bullet, "I'm afraid I can't remember your name."

"Callisto," Callisto supplied, still smiling. "TAing for Professors Carter and Skeeter."

"Two?" Kiki answered, impressed. "Wow. That's Journalism and - War?"

"Yeah, Tactics of War," Callisto nodded. "You doing a specific subject for Professor Chaucer or just general TAing?"

"Poetry," Kiki replied. "He offered me Western Lit, too, but it conflicts with Magical Theory, so I'm taking that one as independent study."

"Magical Theory, Professor Calendar's teaching that isn't she?"

"Yes; she's really good, too. She really knows her stuff. What else are you taking?"

"She was good when she took over AbPsych from Drusilla too. Advanced Criminal Justice, Music, and Campaigning. You?"

The two lit courses and magic, plus basic math - which hasn't been at all as frightening as I thought it would be."

"Going for a light courseload this semester, then?" Callisto grinned. "Not that I blame you."

Kiki turned that over for a moment. "I guess so," she decided. "I hadn't looked at it that way, really, considering I'm TAing one and juggling two jobs on the side, but yeah, it is a pretty light courseload - I'm not taking any heavy-duty sciences or anything. Come to think of it, I hope I never have to take a weighty science class; I don't think I'd do too well in it."

"Well, it's not like you're slacking or anything, and considering that you do have other responsibilities it'd be foolish to try to overload on classes when you'll have plenty of time to take them later." Callisto shrugged. "As far as sciences go, if you end up needing one for graduation you can't really go wrong with Psych."

Kiki nodded. "That's a good point - thanks for the advice! Hopefully, Ms. Calendar will be teaching it again."

Kiki looks at the clock. "And speaking of Ms. Calendar... I've got class soon!"

"You're welcome," Callisto grinned. "Nice talking to you Kiki, I'll see you around."

"Absolutely," Kiki grins, waving over her shoulder as she hurries out the door.
