"Yeah, I feel fine," she said, shrugging. "It's just odd. Janet and I were joking about alien abduction."

"You don't think...for real, do you?"

Elizabeth hesitated. "I honestly don't know," she said quietly. "I still feel like me; hopefully there's not an even younger clone of me running around now!"

Charlie cleared his throat and dropped his voice even quieter than the hushed tones they'd been talking with in the far corner since there was someone else in the room. He nodded. "I should've done something." He grimaced. "Sorry."

Elizabeth just looked at him. "How were you supposed to know that there was anything going on?" she asked, equally quietly. "It's not like I can always give you warning when I'm yanked out to deal with something."

"Yeah." He frowned more. "I suppose. Guess I'm a little worried that one time it's gonna be a big deal and I'm gonna miss it when you're in trouble."

Elizabeth wrapped her arm around him, and laid her head on his shoulder. "I'll have you know that I have a very good track record of getting myself out of trouble," she smiled.

He draped his arm around her shoulders. "I don't doubt that. Just...doesn't hurt to have muscle around in a tight spot, y'know?" He tried to make light of the situation, but he was the chronic protector type.

"No, it doesn't," she agreed. "And if I ever get prior warning of an alien abduction, then I'll make sure I take you with me," she said, teasingly.

Charlie grinned. "Gee, thanks. But for real, I'll drop you a line every few days and, if it's not too much, will you do it too? We don't have to live in each others' pockets or nothing, but doesn't hurt to keep in touch. Y'know, just in case."

Elizabeth nodded. "I think that sounds like a good idea," she said, cuddling closer.

"Good." He felt better now for a combination of reasons. "Y'know, you're distracting me from my reading." He hastily added something. "Not that I'm complaining."

"Good job too, because if not, I'd have to leave you to your reading," Elizabeth grinned. "What'cha reading?"

"Gawain, green knight, something like that." He shrugged. "It's all good versus evil and rebellion and spiritual is political and...stuff."

"Arthurian traditions?" she guessed.

"Bingo. Which I've gotta head out for soon. Only class of the day, though. Might come back here after. I'm getting sick of my room and the new colors in the common room make me hallucinate."

"Well, I've gotta head out for political campaigning myself at the same time," Elizabeth replied. "Which for me, is one of four today. I won't be finished until 7th period."

"Fun. Hey, you wanna catch up and do something this weekend?"

Elizabeth grinned. "What did you have in mind?" she asked.

[[ooc: I'm away this weekend at Pegasus One, but I trust you, so if you want her, she's yours ;)]]

"Maybe a trip to the mainland? We could go out, see something other than this place, not think about school or anything."

"That sounds like the best idea I've heard in a while," Elizabeth smiled.

"You sure? Because as soon as I get outta class, I'm making reservations."

Elizabeth laughed. "Absolutely," she said firmly.

Charlie grinned again. "Cool." He glanced at his watch. "Okay, I've gotta go." He pressed a kiss to her forehead and got up. "See you later?"

Elizabeth smiled. "Absolutely. And, uh. Try to stay out of trouble in class, m'okay?"
