Assistants Lounge [9/20]

Phoebe had gathered some books and notebooks and settled into the Assistants lounge to do some note taking and research for the Good Omens class and lab projects.

She started the coffee maker and brewed some tea before she settled back in to read and study.

Uh oh.

"What happened yesterday?"

Phoebe frowned. "Had a discussion... that somehow turned into a fight... with Cole."

"What was it about?"

Phoebe sighed. "It was supposed to be just a discussion about kissing other people. He kissed Anders --- harmless fun---... and I asked how he would feel if I kissed other people, too."

"Let me guess. He didn't like that idea?"

Phoebe shook her head. "Not that I would, but I was trying to point out that he wouldn't see it as harmless fun if I did the same thing."

Phoebe waved back. "Hi Mac."

"So he got mad because you pointed out he was being a . . . what's that word? Hippo-rat?"

Once she'd poured her coffee Mac made her way over to Phoebe. "Wow, that's a lot of books. What's that lot for?"

Phoebe smiled slightly. "Hyprocrite." She sighed. "I think he thought I was threatening to do just that to teach him a lesson. I don't know. He just... he snapped at me and he left the common room."

"My Good Omens.. and Bad class," she explained. "We're studying different forms of divination and prohecies."

". . . Okay, I know this isn't going to be what you want to hear, but maybe you guys should take a break? He's obviously not as interested in you as you are in him. Because he's an idiot."

Phoebe swallowed, trying not to let herself get too upset at that thought.

"I'm going home for the weekend," she said quietly. "I'll be with my sisters and my Grams."

Mac nodded, taking a sip of her drink. "Well, at least it sounds interesting. Even if it does involve a lot of researchy stuff."

"I seem to have completely avoided anything like that in my classes this year. It's been... different." Yeah, that about covered it.

"Maybe they can give you better advice than I can. They know both of you better."

"How did you manage that?"

Phoebe shook her head. "Only Piper and paige know about Cole. Grams and Prue would kill him if they knew about him."

"But you could get their perspective on guys in general, right?"

At this Phoebe grinned. "Grams' perspective on men is quite colourful. Men are evil and no man is ever good enough for one of the Halliwell women."

"Well, you guys are pretty awesome, so maybe she has a point."

Phoebe smiled. "Thanks, Nadia." She shook her head. "One of these days I'll learn not to poke the demon's jealousy button."

"But why should you have to do that, when he's usually the one poking yours first?"

Phoebe tried to find the right words. "Because I've had almost 18 years of practice and learning how to be a human and Cole has only had about 6 to 8 months of really learning to be a human?"

"But if his jealousy button is what helps him learn, then maybe that's a good thing."

"I hate hurting him, Nadia, but I feel I have every right to be upset."

She dropped her head into her hands.

"Men are confusing. I need chocolate." She sighed. "I wasn't even mad when I talked to him about it!"
