Assistant's Lounge, Thurs Jan 19

Done with ACJ and not feeling up to heading back to the room before Campaigning, Angel headed into the lounge to lay on the couch and close his eyes for a few minutes.

The chickens looked up at Angel with total admiration, clucking in a way that showed their undying love.

"Hey!" John swats at the chicken with his arms. "I wasn't really gonna do it!"

Angel stayed right where he was on the couch. He watched the birds warily. "I brushed up against a cornmeal muffin when I grabbed coffee this morning. Maybe that's it?"

The swatting really doesn't amuse the chicken in question to it decides to peck john on the leg to show him who's really the boss.

Judging from the excited clucking, the chickens seem to really like that idea.

Bel flexed his fingers. "One order of fried chicken, coming up," he muttered, glaring back at the chicken.

"Oh thank god," Angel said. "Because there was a chicken and rubbing and... I don't want to talk about it."

Totally distracted this is what happens when the vamp doesn't get his morning coffee Angel cocked ha! his head thoughtfully and said, "Though how cute would a chicken with a little wheelchair be?"

"Oh you totally stole my pun," Angel said. There was even pouting. "I was going to go there, it was going to be a bonding moment... but no. You ruined it. Be that way."

"Just because something rubs up against your leg doesn't mean it's Phoebe," Bel growled. "She was bitten by a gremlin, that's the only reason she would touch you, and by the way, put a leash on that blonde skank you call a girlfriend, because if she lays one finger on Phoebe...."

Anders takes advantage of this to get up. "Thanks for running interference, dude," he says, patting John on the shoulder.

Angel smiled the smug smile of one whose girlfriend is a fighter. "I'm telling Callisto you called her a skank. And then I'm taking pictures."

"I will roll all over your bed with chickens!" Angel said.

Then he heard himself.

"That's probably more of a threat to me than it is to you, isn't it?"

"Oh, by all means, tell her to bring it," Bel said. "She made some nasty comments about my girlfriend that need dealing with." He'd managed to remain calm while Callisto had insulted Phoebe, but the chickens had brought it to the forefront again, and this time he wasn't going to be silent. "Tell me, you share her feelings?"

Angel rubbed his eyes tiredly. "Oh dear god I have not missed this side of you. What answer do I have to give so we get past your knee-jerk protectiveness issues and get back on the muppet chickens?"

"Why didn't you bother to explain to Callisto that Phoebe was bitten by a gremlin the other night?" Bel said angrily. "According to her, you made it seem like Phoebe threw herself at you, and we both know that's not the case. It's hard enough for her to deal with people not trusting her because of her relationship with me; you don't have to make it worse for her. I thought you were supposed to be one of the good guys. Guess not if you enjoy hurting Phoebe's reputation."

Anders is totally not stupid enough to mumble anything like "Dude, will you guys just kiss already?" loud enough so they can hear him.

Except sometimes he is, and now happens to be one of those times.
