Assistants' Lounge, Monday

Bel opened up the lounge after Sociology of Violence, his second period class, determined not to wallow in humiliation any longer. So what if he'd failed ~~again~~? So what if he was the laughing stock of the school? Let them laugh. Next time he'd get it right, and then he'd be laughing as Angelus took his revenge on those who had ensouled him.

Seemingly unconcerned about anything, he sprawled on the couch, reading a book, "Weapons of the Zen Masters."

Blair sat down on the floor and fumbled with his backpack a little before speaking.

"I don't think what you did was cool and I don't really understand why you did it or anything and I don't even know if I want to know why because it was a violation of someone's body and their soul and I'm sure you'll have lots of bad karma for the whole thing." Blair waved his hands.

"But I wanted to apologize for something I did and I'm really sorry that I contributed to your own body being violated because I just don't think that's cool and theres going to be picture of you wearing one of my hawaiian shirts and I know you said that's not your style so I'm sorry that I participated in it. I'm really sorry." Blair dug a folded shirt out of his backpack and handed it over. "Here's the shirt that Angel gave me to wear, I'm assuming it's yours."

"What happened was an accident," Bel said calmly, accepting the shirt. "I didn't intend for it to happen like that. And despite Angel's whining to the contrary, I took better care of his body than he did mine, I'm sure. How was I 'violated'? What exactly did he do to mine, and explain to me why it was okay and that I'm the evil villain here. I'm really very curious."

"An accident like you didn't mean to steal his soul or accident like you didn't meant to be stuck in each other's bodies?"

"It wasn't anything lasting, man. Just some pictures with clothes that wasn't very...uh...masculine. I don't know how many, because I left. I didn't say it was okay. I apologized, didn't I?" Blair shrugged. "I understand where the desire came from, I think. You caused something to happen to Angel and I think he probably wanted some retribution, and all his friends were probably angry at you for putting him in that position. If the situation was reversed would you have tried to get revenge on Angel by humilating his body?"

Bel ignored Blair's first question. "Could've been worse, I suppose," he said with a sigh. "I guess it should warm my heart that I can bring such joy to them when they look at the pictures and laugh at me. Our definitions of lasting are a bit different, though. But at least I can say it wasn't me. Angel's the one who played dress-up."

He looked at Blair. "Thanks for telling me."

"You're welcome, man." Blair tilted his head. "I suppose it wouldn't do any good to ask you to apologize and promise to never do anything like ever this again?"

Blair was pretty sure that it was a silly question, but he thought he'd give it a try. And besides...Bel had promised not to keep his fire to himself, so might as well go for it.

"Like that? I absolutely won't," Bel said with a smirk. "But I can't apologize for wanting to help my friend."

Blair grinned and shook his head. "Yeah, I guess I should have defined that better."

"Your friend, the old Angel, right? The killing one who's all scary?" Blair made a 'grr' face.

"Killing one?" Bel repeated. "Maybe. But so far I haven't seen any evidence that he did what they said he did. A bunch of kids just took justice into their own hands and condemned him just because of what he is." Bel shook his head. "It would've been kinder to kill him. He would rather have had it that way, instead of being tormented like he is now. Unable to be happy. Unable to be with the woman he loves. Do you think that's justice?"

Blair leaned back and thought. "I don't know about that, mostly because I didn't know Angel before now. He seems happy now, with school and student council and Sean and Callisto. Is stealing that from him now justice? Would you be trying to correct a problem by doing the same thing that you're accusing other people of doing...condemning him just because he's Angel and not your friend?"

"Angel hates me," Bel said simply. "And I don't care for him. I want my friend back. I need him back."

Blair bounced. "I don't know man, I don't think he hates you. Although I haven't talked to him about it after this weekend."

"So you're angry that people didn't care for your friend and changed him because of that, yet you're willing to do the same thing. What makes your needs more important than theirs? And why do you need him so badly?"

"Putting something back to rights isn't wrong, is it?" Bel said. "As for why...it's a lot of reasons you would never understand."

Blair frowned. "Well, gee mister, that's awful smart of you to not tell the kiddies anything important. I hope I can grow up to be as condecending."

"Angel's a human that was turned into a vampire that was given a soul that got taken away that got given back. Exactly how far are you going to go to put things back to 'right'?"

Bel gave Blair a dark look. "What gives you the idea I would want to pour my heart out to you?" he said. "You don't know what it's like to be a demon or what duties or obligations we have. And anything I told you would go straight to Angel's ear, wouldn't it?"

Blair stood and slung his backpack onto his shoulder. "Maybe because right now I don't hate you and am willing to listen?"

"You're right, I don't. I don't know and I don't understand but at least I asked." Blair sighed; "I'm not going to lie to you, man. I've talked to Angel about some of the stuff that we talked about, but not just for fun or to let him know what you're up to. I talked to him when I had a question about stuff. I don't run around telling other people's business. I may talk a lot but I'm not a gossip."

"Why don't you hate me?" Bel asked curiously. "Everyone else does."

Blair bounced. "We talked about this before, man. Hating is bad karma. I don't hate you. I didn't hate you the other night after the whole fire thing...I was scared of you...but I didn't hate you."

"Too strong a word then," Bel said with a half smile. "You don't exactly like me then, yes?"

Blair shrugged. "I don't really not like you. More like I don't trust you entirely."

"We're not going to be having picnics in the park anytime soon, but I'll say hi if we see each other. Unless you're playing with fire again...then I'm heading the other direction!" He laughed a little and bounced.

"It's a good idea not to trust me," Bel said, his lips twitching into more of a smile at the bouncing. "Demon and all. Wise course of action."

"I hear you." Blair nodded and pointed to the door. "I'm off to class, man. Hope you have a good day! I can imagine it's not going to be full of happy smiling people."

"Probably not," Bel agreed. "Catch you later."
