Assistants' Lounge, Monday

Bel opened up the lounge after Sociology of Violence, his second period class, determined not to wallow in humiliation any longer. So what if he'd failed again? So what if he was the laughing stock of the school? Let them laugh. Next time he'd get it right, and then he'd be laughing as Angelus took his revenge on those who had ensouled him.

Seemingly unconcerned about anything, he sprawled on the couch, reading a book, "Weapons of the Zen Masters."

Blair headed into the lounge for something to drink before Dream's class and was surprised and a little nervous at seeing Belthazor sprawled on the couch.

"H-hey man. Just getting coffee to take with me and drink and.." Blair bounced nervously. "Good morning?"

"Hey," Bel said, looking up from his book. "Morning."

Blair stared at him a minute before heading to the coffee machine. He stopped, turned back around and then waved his hands towards Bel.

"Listen man, I just wanna clear the air here. Can we talk?" Blair thought for a minute about what Parker said and shifted his bag to make sure his water bottle was inside. "With no fiery hands?"

"No fiery hands, sure," Bel said, looking curiously at Blair, waiting to hear what he had to say. He sat up and set his book aside.

Blair sat down on the floor and fumbled with his backpack a little before speaking.

"I don't think what you did was cool and I don't really understand why you did it or anything and I don't even know if I want to know why because it was a violation of someone's body and their soul and I'm sure you'll have lots of bad karma for the whole thing." Blair waved his hands.

"But I wanted to apologize for something I did and I'm really sorry that I contributed to your own body being violated because I just don't think that's cool and theres going to be picture of you wearing one of my hawaiian shirts and I know you said that's not your style so I'm sorry that I participated in it. I'm really sorry." Blair dug a folded shirt out of his backpack and handed it over. "Here's the shirt that Angel gave me to wear, I'm assuming it's yours."

"What happened was an accident," Bel said calmly, accepting the shirt. "I didn't intend for it to happen like that. And despite Angel's whining to the contrary, I took better care of his body than he did mine, I'm sure. How was I 'violated'? What exactly did he do to mine, and explain to me why it was okay and that I'm the evil villain here. I'm really very curious."

"An accident like you didn't mean to steal his soul or accident like you didn't meant to be stuck in each other's bodies?"

"It wasn't anything lasting, man. Just some pictures with clothes that wasn't very...uh...masculine. I don't know how many, because I left. I didn't say it was okay. I apologized, didn't I?" Blair shrugged. "I understand where the desire came from, I think. You caused something to happen to Angel and I think he probably wanted some retribution, and all his friends were probably angry at you for putting him in that position. If the situation was reversed would you have tried to get revenge on Angel by humilating his body?"

"I'm a TA," Bel said evenly. "Therefore I'm allowed to be in here."

Alanna was seriously fighting the urge to simply punch sense into Bel. "Do you even have a brain?"

"According to Biology class I do," Bel said. "But I suppose you'd care to differ."

Alanna did a really good impression of her cat and snarled. "Now really, why would I? It's not like you did anything to give me that impression lately."

"It was an accident!" Bel protested. "I was practicing the spell and it got out of hand."

"Right. And why would a spell that's designed for innanimate objects decide to switch people's um, being around? Contrary to popular belief, I'm not that stupid." Alanna's hands were clenched behind her back.

Lunch

Isabel wandered in with a salad, a bottle of water, and a plan to review her notes on Western Literature. She stopped when she saw Belthazor. "Oh, you're here."

She shrugged. "I don't know, just hard to picture the evil guy sitting in the lounge reading a book just like everyone else."

"We villains have hobbies like everyone else," Bel said, smirking. "And sometimes I even do such non-villainous thing as buy my girlfriend presents. And occasionally pet a kitten or puppy."

"Why? Can you just explain why to me?" Isabel sighed and sat on the couch. "What's the point of making Angel lose his soul? What's in it for you?"

"If I'd been trying to make him lose his soul...if...it would be because I made a promise to a friend," Bel said. "But what happened this weekend, that was an accident."

"That's funny," Isabel may have snorted, just a bit. "Because I made a promise to a friend as well, except it involved a stake and making sure he died. So I think I'm pretty happy that your accident didn't do any lasting harm."

Period 5

Bel's gone to class now and the lounge is closed unless someone else keeps it open.
