Assistants' Lounge, Thursday 1/26

The roof was too bright and visible during the day, and the attic reminded Bel too much of Phoebe, so he retreated to the lounge to spend the day brooding. And quite possibly, plot the ways he was going to make Logan Echolls suffer.

Bel's off to Sex Cultures to brood in class and look longingly at Phoebe.

Angela comes into the de-dEMOned lounge and pages through her vocabulary sheets for Sociology of the Paranormal.

She's wondering if she could actually get people to belioeve the lounge had a ghost, as she suggested for the assignment to create a hoax. But that would just be silly.

Sam came in and dumped her incredibly heavy bag on the floor next to one of the chairs. "Hey, Angela. How're things going?"

"Hi, Sam. They're okay. Mixed. You?"

Then, not sure what is possessing her: "So this is going to sound kind of strange, but do you think there's anything weird about this room now that it's been de-gunked?"

Sam shrugged and sat down. "Can't complain. One class this morning, then I spent some time doing homework."

"Weird?" She asked, interested, "Weird in what way?"

"Weird in the, I think there's something strange in here, sense. Not, like, bugs, but..." she covers her face with her hands, feigning embarassment. "It feels like a spirit or a ghost or something. If you believe in that."

"I'm not sure, actually," Sam said, not quite willing to believe in something she couldn't see and hear, even after all this time in Fandom. Still, Angela usually seemed pretty sane when it came to stuff like this. "What makes you think that?"

"Really? Wow. I guess I haven't been in here enough to really notice." She made a mental note to start bringing a sweater to the lounge. "But I think the onions might really be the fridge."

"Other than the disappearing markers, has anyone else noticed anything out of the ordinary?"

Angela hesitates, unsure how much she actually wants to lie for something that isn't even technically a project. "I'm not sure," she says. "I mean, I saw somwthing, but ... it might have just been a dream, you know?"

"Huh," Sam said. "I'll have to keep an eye out, I guess."

"Yeah, I was just waking up and there was this woman, and..." Angela's voice trails off. Xander's right. It wouldn't even be that weird for this school."

"Um ..." Angela had not actually thought that far ahead.

She goes with her strengths and starts just randomly making stuff up.

"It gets really cold in here sometimes. And things move around. Like, I left some markers in here last week, and now they're gone, and I can't imagine any of us taking them. And it smells funny sometimes, too. Like onions."

Xander followed Sam in, scouting around to see if anyone had left anything snacklike in the room, since lunch at J,GOB had been, well, pretty much sugar. Next time he'd have to try the croissant sandwiches or something. "Hey, guys."

"Hey, Xander. Want some coffee?"

"Coffee good," he said, nodding. He cocked his head. "What about ghosts, now?"

[ooc - his mun said, duct-taping the conversations together...]

"I think we have one," Angela says, going over the same things she told Sam. "I dunno, you're from a weird place -- do you think it's plausible?"

Xander shrugged. "Sure. Be pretty surprised if there weren't ghosts around here. Not sure why they'd want to make the TA lounge smell like onions, though - what, it died of bad breath?"

"I don't know. Maybe the onions are just somebody's lunch that went bad?"

"But what I don't get is why we'd have a ghost. I mean, wasn't the school new this fall?"

Xander nodded. "Well, point. But I assume the land didn't spring up out of nowhere along with the school. And this place has gotta be on some weird mystical mumbledywhatzit with all the stuff that goes down here. Probably not a hellmouth, because most of it's not evil as far as I've seen - but something weird. So ghosts... no big surprise."

Sam considered that. Xander, after all, was definitely from a town that seemed to specialize in weird, based on what she'd heard. "Do you think there'd be measurable differences? That could be researched and investigated?"

"You mean, here versus ... the mainland, or whatever? Good question," Angela muses. "Maybe the I-Club magic people would be into it."

"Could be sciencey-type differences too," Xander said. "We know people end up here from different timelines and dimensions. Some of that's more Galaxy Quest than Spooky Things."

"Something to bring up, anyhow," Angela agrees.

Then: "So if there is a ghost in here, what do you think it would be from? I feel like it's a she."

Xander flopped down on a couch with his coffee. "I dunno - do we know what was here before the school?"
